Review:
My heart is still pounding. This is the best suspense I have read in a long time. The action was non-stop. The twists and turns came out of the blue and left me breathless. The psychic elements were wonderful and the ending was brilliant. Not overdone, no long drawn out scenes. It was simply wonderful.

Both Frank and Rand are well thought out, the sex is hot and vividly described. When they are together, it’s raw yet beautiful. I can’t call it a complaint, because I loved the story as is. But it is the suspense of the book that carries the story. The “Romantic” part of “Romantic Suspense” is not an integral part of SHOWDOWN. But even without a strong romance within the story, it still a book to stay on the keeper shelf. The story stands alone, but I think I want to truly get to know the characters. So I’m off to read the first two in the series, Crossroads and Crossroads: Revisited.

This setting is Georgia, 1856.

Morgan Gatewood, a friend of Cain’s has been in love with Olivia for years. Her father warned him to stay away from her because He would not make not fit husband material for his daughter.

Olivia has a scheme to bring Morgan to his senses. She asks Morgan to take her to L’ Amour Immortelles so she could pick a husband based on his expertise. Cain and Morgan try and talk her out of it. She is determined. She doesn’t know Morgan is the owner of the brothel.

A murderer is on the loose. He kills ladies of the evening and leaves behind a black rose. Morgan attempts to keep Olivia safe.

This is an excellent, well written historical romance. This book does have graphic scenes and adult language.

I love historical books that take place during the Civil War Era, this book did not disappoint me. This book contains steamy scenes and graphic language. The characters make this book.

Sophia, Gavin and Jesse have been friends since childhood. Jesse and Sophia have been pledged to marriage from birth. Gavin hides his deep love for Sophia. Gavin was a Yankee and fought as one.

The war is coming to an end and Sophia Whitfield has lost everything, her friends, her family, Jesse and Gavin. Lately she has been having dreams of Jesse. She just knows he will return safe and they will be married.

She didn’t recognize Gavin when he walked down the road in his Yankee. She shot him. He has a bullet hole in his chest. She and two slaves try to save Gavin.

Gavin is a besieged man. War is hard on a person and he is carrying secrets that torment him. He has news for Sophia but as the days go by their passion for each other grows. Sophia is waiting for Jesse to return. Her feelings for Gavin grows as Billy Cooper swears he will have her as his wife She know it is only because he wants Arbor Rose, Sophia’s homestead.

Eventually Sophia finally learns the real reason why Gavin returned to her home. Her feelings are mixed. The relationship waffles from hot to cold .

Land of Falling Stars is filled with passion, heartache, and pride. I hope there is a sequel in the works. This is a good read.

All she wants is a bit of independence and some freedom. Oh yeah, she desires just one more thing, for Morgan Gatewood to marry her. Perhaps the most traditional and acceptable step for Olivia to take would be to let Morgan court her, but that’s just not her style. Why wait for him to come to her?

Olivia has her own tricks up her sleeves to gain the attention of Morgan. She is sure he is her match. Is he a gentleman? Maybe not, but a man that would excite her and please her, he is. Just how far is Olivia willing to go? Will she go too far? The suspense builds as Olivia pushes everyone’s limits, including her own.

DECADENT DECEPTIONS by Keta Diablo is a captivating story. The characters are completely outside of the box, a definite surprise to me for sure. I enjoyed having characters that caught me off guard. I admit there were quite a few times when I really wanted to strangle Olivia, but she kept me turning the pages with her flamboyant and uninhibited schemes. You really do have to read it to believe it.
