What? A New York Best-Selling Author Stopped Into the Keep!
I'm so excited and I just can't hide it . . . I'm about to lose control and I think I like it . . . Wow! Lana Griffin has dropped in. Fasten your seat belts!
LANA GRIFFIN EXPOSED
Hi, and my thanks to Keta Diablo for hosting me today. I’m Lana Griffin, alter ego of a New York Times Best-Selling Author. I’ve written more than 20 books and am currently working on several new novels. Under my real name, I've sold 6-700,000 books worldwide.
DUSK - Ravenous Romance release from December, my first erotic romance novel.
DUSK is a sexy vampire tale in which an ancient voodoo priestess and her vampire lover must overcome their "bad blood" to save the lives of ordinary humans.
Is there something peculiar about a woman who spends all of her time thinking about vampires, ghouls, and other supernatural creatures? Does it make her even more eccentric if she still loves comics, cartoons, and horror movies?
I frankly don't understand people who don't get lost in stories about otherwordly places and strange creatures. Let's be honest: fantasy, romance, and exciting characters help us feel alive.
Rather than multi-task, I prefer to multi-play. I read horror novels while watching Sponge Bob Square Pants. I read romance novels while watching Family Guy while sipping wine while listening to music while soaking in a bath tub. In fact, if I could multi-play 45 fun things at once, I'd do it. On the other hand, writing about vampires is so alluring that I'd gladly trade Family Guy and Sponge Bob to publish sequels of DUSK. (But don't ask me to give up the wine, music, and bath tub - I do have basic needs.)
When Keta kindly asked me to guest blog on her site today, I decided to expose myself a little. So here's a little background:
In my first year of publication, I sold approximately a dozen stories to professional-rate markets (3-5 cents per word in those days). All of my stories were loaded with paranormal elements and/or bizarre science. I wrote several young adult and adult novels and continued to sell short stories and non-fiction. After selling a few dozens stories and 20+ books, I branched into erotic romance with DUSK (Ravenous Romance, 12-30-09).
I love (and I mean, absolutely love) writing paranormal fiction. The fact that a romance has a happy ending appeals to me.
I also like to keep things moving with tight plots, and good characterization is always a wise thing to toss into fiction. I don't know if I achieve these goals, but I always try.
DUSK has some wacky scenes. When I'm enjoying myself, I tend to veer into dark comedy.
In fact, my first novel was 499 pages of dark comedy, and I followed it with a second novel of dark comedy. These were "practice" novels, written a long time ago -- at the dawn of time. I still have these unpublished novels, and let me tell you, they are dreadful! I typed them on ancient (FREE) green-and-white computer paper imprinted with warehouse stock data, detached the pages from each other, and then with an ordinary scissors, trimmed each page down to a ragged (and very approximate) 8-1/2 x 11 inches.
Now that I think about it, my first two dozen story sales were made shortly after that period. All of those early stories were typed on the same green-and-white paper and cut with the same scissors. It's amazing that I sold anything at all!
Suffice it to say, I don't recommend these methods to beginning writers.
But back to DUSK! Ravenous Romance calls DUSK an "adult Twilight," and while DUSK is about forbidden love and lust, it also has plenty of passion. Yes, the characters do have sex: imagine that!
With DUSK, I decided to add some love triangles, and along with my lead vamp hero, I made my heroine an ancient voodoo priestess and gave her a longtime lover, who just happens to be a poetic wraith. I even tossed in a gargoyle, who falls in love with the true Venus de Milos: hey, they’re both statues, so why shouldn’t they fall in love? Finally, I gave DUSK an underpinning of mystery to drive the plot.
My goal is to entertain readers. So if you read DUSK, I hope you like it.
XOXO,
Lana Griffin
ABOUT *DUSK*
Alexandra Leveau comes from an ancient voodoo priestess clan that's been feuding with sexy vamp Vadim Blerinca's family for centuries. The mysterious "bad blood" between the Leveaus and Blerincas is what keeps Alexandra and Vadim burning for each other, yet it also makes them a very dangerous match: by making love, each could kill the other.
Added to the erotically charged mix is Alexandra's ex-boyfriend, the poetic wraith Skipp, as well as a gargoyle who is devoted to Alexandra and will kill anyone who tampers with her. Add one more wraith to the mix plus an insane vamp sire and the true Venus de Milos. Now mix in elements of murder and mystery: the deaths of elderly citizens for unknown reasons.
A sexy, romantic romp of forbidden love and lust!

Drum Roll Please . . . Ta-Da! ~ New Review Blog Opening March 1st ~
It's my great pleasure to welcome Michele and Jeff to Keta's Keep. I was thrilled to hear about their new venture -- Michele N' Jeff Reviews. You can read all the details below, but I must add that I fell in love with their philosophy about reviewing and feel they will bring respectability to the books and authors they review. Bookmark their link below and be sure to follow their blog on March 1st when they open. I know I'll be popping in on a regular basis.
Ain't she sweet . . . see her walking down the street . . . okay, Keta get a hold of yourself. I'm honored to introduce Michele N' Jeff's Reviews.
Michele in her own words: Visit This Sweet Lady Here
I live in a place where I allow my imagination to rule me. I have lived most all of my life wondering 'What If?' Things just sort of go from there. I have more fun sitting in front of my computer getting lost in my "characters' lives" than riding a roller coaster. Then again I love playing the Sims too...something in common there?
It's funny but when a writer says they get their ideas from everywhere, they’re telling you the truth. I can sit in a restaurant, a bar, or the airport, and out of nowhere an idea hits me, just by watching the people. I can sit there and come up with a story about his/her life right there. I can imagine what he or she is doing there at that moment and the next second I'm jotting down the plot and ignoring (not on purpose) the people I'm with. Used to be when I took the pad of paper out with a pen they kept talking and asking me questions, now they know that I'm lost in my own world, at least until I look up at them with a grin.

Inspiration is defined as Stimulation of the mind or emotions to a high level of feeling or activity. And let me tell you, that my mind is always in overdrive. I love to create a story and get lost in its hold, in my characters lives. I get going on it and let me tell you, I get so caught up in it that it's what I'm thinking of when I go to bed and it's what I'm thinking of when I open my eyes. Honestly, someone needs to invent a way for me to write while in the shower. I don't know how to not think about the story I'm working with for just a day. I can't just take a day off, because really it feels as if I'll just explode if I can't get it out. Basically once I'm working with an idea, I stay lost until that idea is down and in the form of a manuscript, and ready to be read. I am so blessed to have been given a Muse; she keeps me going even when I don't think I can go anymore.
Most of the time you can catch me sitting at my computer with my Zune going, and believe it or not, nine times out of ten I can't tell you what's playing. If someone puts the TV on and I can see it, I'm a lost cause. However, there is a bright side to that; I bet I will come up with another idea for another story.
I have three kids, I’ve been married to the same wonderful man for so many years and we have three grand babies. Life is worth living for sure!! I live in Colorado with my husband where our children and grand children surround us. Are we lucky or what? The best of both I’d say.
As you’ve probably guessed, my passion is writing. I love to dream of make-believe places and people and make them come to reality so that I can share them. So, if anything that I write touches you in any way, and it leaves you thinking, then I can say I’ve done my job. And if you’d like, you’re welcome to send me an email, I’d love to hear from you.

I love to read. All kinds of things—especially gay-themed novels. I particularly enjoy romance, historical, horror, sci-fi, fantasy, vampire stories, and young adult.
I write gay-themed stories. They always have happy endings, and this is something for which I offer no apologies. I believe in knights in shining armor, good prevailing over evil, and everyone living happily ever after. I have enough realism in my life; I don’t need it in my fiction.
The romances in my stories are all very similar. I couple a vulnerable, sensitive, and innocent central character with a larger-than-life hero. Sometimes this is presented in a jock/nerd dynamic, sometimes it is Dom/sub, sometimes badboy/angel. In truth, this is classic romance. It is Prince Charming and Cinderella.
I began writing about seven years ago and posted my first stories on the Nifty Archive. My work includes gay fiction, gay romance, gay erotica, young adult, and BDSM. I recently embarked upon the task of attempting to write a science fiction novel.
I’m a reviewer on another gay-interest review site and also have my own Blog. I network using Facebook and MySpace. My published books include Dumb Jock and Puppy Love. Slated for release later this year are: Puppy Love 2: Building a Family and The Landlord.
Michele N' Jeff's Blog Bio BOOKMARK THE BLOG ADDRESS
As if there aren’t enough m/m fiction review sites out there already, we’ve decided to throw our hat into the ring and give it a shot. Being that we both are authors, we didn't originally intend to get into reviewing the work of other authors and creating a Blog to highlight and promote their work. Over the course of the past year or so, however, we began noticing a trend amongst the established review blogs, and it became very disturbing to us.
It has always bothered us to see reviewers disparage a book, raking the author over the coals, and then to have these nasty reviews followed up by a stream of endless praise to the reviewer for their outstanding review. It is even more alarming when we see comments from these same readers stating that they will certainly never bother to touch the book that has just been ripped to shreds.
In our opinion, this is not the purpose of a book review. When we review books, we merely are offering the opinion of one single reader—ourselves. We may or may not agree with the theme of the book. We may or may not particularly fall in love with some of the characters in the book. We may or may not believe all of the elements of the plot are plausible or even logical. We do, however, recognize that if a book has been published, it is likely to possess at least some redeeming qualities. If we can absolutely find none, we will not bother to review that book at all. Instead we will allow our silence to speak on our behalf, and we will leave the book to be reviewed by other reviewers who may have different interpretations.
We do not believe that books should be rated based upon our personal relationships with the authors. We do not believe that self-published books should be regarded as sub-standard or of lower quality than traditionally published books. We do not believe that our job is to influence readers as to what they should or should not like. And we do not believe that our personal tastes in relation to fetish, relational dynamic, or specific form of sexual expression are the basis for which we should rate a book.
We, Michele and Jeff, want to offer readers an alternative to what is out there now. We want to have a much different type of review site. We want it to be one which celebrates the creativity and imagination of the author. We want it to be open to concepts and ideas that others have typically shunned. We want to offer our opinions as to what we like and then allow you to judge for yourself whether or not you agree.
We promise never to brag about how important we are or about how many people we influence. We promise not to ever discourage an author from responding to our reviews. We are not deity, and if we are going to criticize an author for something they have written, we certainly welcome their feedback. Who better is there to explain or defend a work than the author him/herself?
We understand the thousands of hours that go into writing, editing, and publishing a book. As reviewers we realize that the only time and effort that we invest is the amount it takes to read the book and to write a review. We are not placing ourselves above the author in a self-appointed position of importance. We feel privileged that the authors have shared their talent with us, and we feel it is our responsibility to be as fair and unbiased as possible.
We sincerely hope that we can bring readers and authors together in a forum where nobody claims to know it all. We’re all in this together, and we all just wanna read some great books. Bring em on!

Welcome Author Anita Philmar
Author Anita Philmar is here with her Banished Scoundrel!
Excerpt From Banished Scoundrel:
“Have you dropped off your stipend for the game tomorrow?” She laid her finely, manicured hand on his arm. The dainty touch sent sparks of awareness
through him, and his cock swelled. “The governor likes to put all the money in his strongbox for safekeeping before the party begins.”
Jack reined in his desire and reminded himself of his primary objective—to transport the lady back to Ardenia.
However, he liked Sloan’s clever rule. If a man didn’t contribute the required gold coins to the game, the governor shouldn’t waste resources entertaining
him. “No, I can’t say that I have. I arrived just a few moments ago.”
“Then let me show you to the study, and I’ll fetch you a drink.” She touched his arm again and stepped into the foyer.
He bowed his head slightly and played the unfamiliar part of a refined gentleman. “And you are?”
She fluttered her hand over her face and brushed a wisp of light brown hair from her brow. “The governor calls me Kitty. It’d probably be best if you did, too.”
“What an alluring name? It makes me think of a cat with its lips covered by a luscious coat of cream.”
Jack stared at Kitty’s mouth, and his tongue tingled at the idea of tasting her rich, flavorful lust.
She giggled and wove her hand through the crook in his arm. The soft swell of her breast bumped against his arm. “Oh, you’re naughty, but I love the alluring image.”
“Then, I hope you’ll let me have a taste later.”
He didn’t crowd her but allowed her to step back. She led him across the entrance way to a door on the other side.

Blurb: Known scoundrel Jack Avery must earn the queen's forgiveness by rescuing her missing daughter from the human world. His sources reveal the Princess Noelani is being held by a powerful man who likes a good game of chance. So with twenty borrowed pieces of gold Jack enters the high-stakes game. Only the lady he encounters is no princess. This pretty Kitty makes him want to hear her purr.
Under a memory spell, Kitty recalls nothing before the governor bought her from her parents and offered her protection from those he claims would kill her kind. So what if, in order to control her, he forces Kitty to morph then deprives her of sexual release after transformation. But the crafty card player she is assigned to “entertain” reveals himself as a kindred spirit—a shape shifter—and unravels the lie she’s been forced to live.
Together Jack and Kitty risk it all, for the stakes are high and the prize is worth it...freedom, forgiveness, love.

New Review for Land of Falling Stars
CHLOE WAITS BLOG, Erotic Romance Author
BUY LINK FOR LAND OF FALLING STARS: Ravenous RomanceChloe Waits Review:
Okay, I have to admit, after hearing Keta Diablo's name quite a bit for erotic romance, I had to snip over to her blog, Keta's Keep, and check it out a little awhile back.
Very cool blog. I was enticed by the icons that allowed me to browse the pages of her work.
Land of Falling Stars lured me in immediately with its lyrical title, and hot cover art. I was instantly captivated by the haunting love story of Gavin and Sophie. So much so I bought it on the spot.
And, I am very glad I did. Engaging, fully realized characters, with a passionate love story that is at once steamy and tender. Gavin won me over as a intense hero fighting against his demons, and Sophie as a heroine trying to reconcile her heart and the past. Complexly layered plot and conflicts added to this poignant tale of star crossed love. Keta Diablo has created a historical romance that manages to blend all these elements with a subtle maestro's touch. I will definitely look forward to reading her work again very soon!
Rating: Five out of Five Stars

Two Lips Reviews Loves Decadent Deceptions
4.5 LIPS
Title: Decadent Deceptions, Author: Keta DiabloPublisher: Noble Romance Publishing
Genre: Suspense, Historical
Publication date: 2008, ISBN: 9781605920139
Pages: 197, Reviewer: Lila -
Now Olivia’s father has passed away. His stipulation that she marry within six months or have to depend on her brother for the rest of her life doesn’t sit well with her at all. Neither does it sit well with Morgan, for he is still very much in love with her. He has spent years trying to get her out of his system, only to find its impossibility. When Olivia decides there is no way she is going to find a suitable man in six months, she turns to her brother and Morgan for help. Both known for their rakish behavior, Liv wants them to get her into a brothel so that she will be able to at least pick a suitor that knows how to please a woman. Morgan is shocked but knows that there is no way to stop Liv once she has her heart set on a path. Since he is the silent owner of the brothel he believes he can keep her visit a secret, because she may think she is looking for a suitor, but Morgan has no intention of letting her go ever again.
By engaging in a little voyeuristic behavior at the brothel, unbeknown to the couple participating, Liv unearths a deep desire to know what it’s like to be with a man. Not just any man either, but the man of her dreams, Morgan. The two of them keep sending each other mixed signals however, and Olivia refuses to be with a man who can’t say he loves her. Can Morgan curb her willful ways or will he lose her forever? As if that wasn’t enough for him to think about there is a killer on the loose. A madman that leaves a black rose as his calling card. He has already killed two of the ladies in the very brothel that Liv observed at, and when black roses are left at the place Olivia resides Morgan’s wits are going to be pushed to the breaking point. Will he be able to admit that he has loved her all these years? Or will he lose her to a cold blooded killer out for revenge?
Keta Diablo’s Decadent Deception completely lives up to its title. The heat between Morgan and Olivia is exactly that, decadent, and the deceptions are around ever flower bush, literally. The two continuously torture each other in this story with their doubts and misgivings about the other. Ms. Diablo is a master at weaving a tantalizing tale of lust and intrigue and Decadent Deception is no exception to this rule. I just couldn’t put the book down. I was continually left wondering what Olivia was going to do next. She is brash and outspoken and I found her to be a refreshing heroine. The sparks between the two keep you on fire throughout the whole book, and believe me when I tell you the ending is a shocker. Decadent Deceptions is very well done Ms. Diablo.

Ms. Diablo has never disappointed me on any of her reads and The Sin Eater's Prince has topped all of her preivously written works. Set among the ancient Welsh background and folklore, I was captured by the tale of Owen Rhys, reviled in his small village, despite the fact that he draws the sins of the living from their bodies before they meet their maker.
Owen' sole friend is the physician's assistant, Carys. Through Carys, Owen has meet the gorgeous healer Andras. Ms. Diablo's novel has all my favorite pulls, it's beautifully plot driven, involves ancient lore and fables, has a paranormal story line, and drips with sultry and sexual decadence.
For fans of deliciously erotic and paranormal fiction, Ms. Diablo's book is a must read
