Have You Gotten Your Red On Today? Red Lipstick Journals
Have you Gotten your Red on Today?
By KatNic, Bella Online
By KatNic, Bella Online
If you do not know what is meant by that statement, I am truly sorry because you are missing out on sensual, sassy, eclectic fun. In September 2010, a group of seven erotic romance authors decided to get together and start a steamy erotic blog called the Red Lipstick Journals. Seven different personalities, seven different points of view, seven different styles, and seven completely different definitions of erotica.
Let's start with the facts, shall we? Red Lipstick Journals is a subscription blog specifically designed for the Amazon Kindle. For those who are unaware, if you own an Amazon Kindle you can subscribe to over 700+ available blogs through Amazon for about $0.99 a month. The Red Lipstick Journals blog was launched on September 1st 2010. Since its launch, RLJ has gained a substantial amount of followers, garnered rave reviews, and is steadily raising their ranking on the Amazon Subscription Blog List.
I was so intrigued by the concept and the potential drama behind this notion I hacked my way into the secret Red Lipstick Journals, or as the authors affectionately call it, the RLJ Yahoo Group email. If there was anywhere I would be able to get the scoop on the real story behind the minds behind RLJ it was here.
The collective experience of the group ranges from the seasoned to the newbie and everything in-between. Their individual genre preferences range as well from one extreme to the other. This diversity can be found in the daily entries of the RLJ Blog and makes a potentially smutty and redundant topic fresh and at times surprising.
With diversity also many times comes conflict. Strong personalities rarely step to the side for another. So I monitored the RLJ emails expecting to see the unfolding of a Desperate Housewives season premiere. Did I find passion, yes. Did I find drama, definitely yes. Did I find screaming arguing and fiery conflict due to artistic differences? Surprisingly, not.
This group of authors is diverse, passionate, and dedicated. With daily conversations about promoting, scheduling, praise, encouragement, jokes, jabs and support, it is no wonder Red Lipstick Journals is quickly moving up on the Amazon blog list of favorites.
The conversation around the group is relaxed but professional. Each author has their unique input on every facet of the blog. There is no leader, all are truly equal, each with their own reasons for contributing to the group.
The number of comments and ideas coming across the RLJ email strands on a daily basis is staggering to the point that it is hard to keep up. It's not all serious as I have witnessed a delirious transaction of emails revolving around absurd sex toys. -You had to be there, really.
Along with full time dedication to RLJ, each author has several other projects working at any given moment. Whether it be reviewing books, offering opinions on prime time television, promoting their latest novel, contributing to other blogs, or just being a presence in the eBook
community.
All of which adds credence and credibility that these authors know what they are doing and are quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with within the romantic erotic community.
I enjoyed my daily dose of RLJ before this article, and I have to say that I will enjoy it even more in the future knowing that the people behind the words truly enjoy what they are doing and represent the erotic romance community with pride, sass and class.

Blog Tour de Force
Welcome to the Blog Tour de Force!
You should have arrived here from ANN CHARLES' WEB SITE
I just finished Ann's latest release, Nearly Departed In Deadwood. No wonder Ann won the Daphne du Maurier Excellence in Mystery and Suspense Award for this novel. From first page to last, you'll be immersed and swept away. This is a must read for anyone who loves mystery. Click on the link above to read more about Nearly Departed in Deadwood and scope out the lovely Ann Charles’ other books.
When you leave here, you'll head on over to: Amber Scott's Web Site. Recently, I had the pleasure of reading Amber's novella, Love Lust, and was literally blown away. This is one sexy read about a succubus on a journey to find herself. Scott’s prose sparkles and the plot held me captive from beginning to end. I highly recommend this book. Well, I highly recommend all of Amber's books. She is truly a rising star in the romance industry.
If, during the tour, you fall off the bus, go: RETURN TO MAIN TOUR PAGE
Let me tell you a little about my book, Where The Rain Is Made. Recently the novel was nominated for BEST e-novel of the year by Authors After Dark. AAD is a wonderful support group for both writers and readers, and I'm honored that Where The Rain Is Made was nominated.
The story behind Where The Rain Is Made:
There's usually a story behind the books we write, and there's also one behind Where The Rain Is Made. I think that's why this one is the book of my heart.
When my youngest son, Dylan, was twelve, he developed a sudden and voracious interest in history, specifically American West history. We spent hours at the library poring through books, and believe me, our arms were full when we left.
His focus eventually centered on the Native American tribes. For some reason, the legend and lore surrounding their fascinating, yet often tragic lives, held his interest for hours on end. I remember the day I first heard the word Dog Soldier from his lips. I recalled watching a Tom Berenger movie once featuring the legendary warriors of the Cheyenne Nation, but by the time my son finished educating me, I knew who Black Kettle's second cousin was three times removed. I'm kidding, of course.
Like Dylan, I immersed myself in the books, and found it difficult to stop thinking about the Dog Soldiers -- the most revered and feared tribe of the plains. The history books paint them as fearless fighters who often staked themselves to the ground with a long rope during battle. This symbolized a sign of no retreat.
Like most Native American tribes of the time, their ending was indeed tragic, but I like to remember all the mystical wonder of the Cheyenne, particularly the Dog Soldiers.
I hope you enjoy reading about Meko and Cesca as much as I loved writing about them. Where The Rain Is Made represents a wonderful time in my life. What could be better than sharing stories and knowledge with your children?
So here's to you, Dylan, and to you, readers. May you come to love the mystery and magic in life that keeps us all searching for that next wonderful read.

The Romance Reviews Likes
Where The Rain Is Made
From the beginning, Keta Diablo drew me into her magical historical tale filled with action, adventure, romance and danger about the Native American Cheyenne.
Ethan Gray, a curator for the Washington D.C national museum, is a time traveler for his spiritual Cheyenne descendants in the Sacred Arrow council. They make Ethan's life interesting by sending him back in time to help and protect the Cheyenne people, which Ethan came to enjoy since he got to experience the history he studied and curate at the national museum up close and personal.
When the Sacred Arrow council sends Ethan back in time to save the Cheyenne people from total destruction from the white Americans, Ethan eagerly takes up the job. But little does he know the complications that will befall him when as Meko, head of the Cheyenne dog soldiers, he kidnaps Francesca DuVall and her brother Marsh. During Francesca's containment, she and Meko find themselves falling into a deep love which in the end threatens Meko's mission.
I enjoyed reading WHERE THE RAIN IS MADE. M.s Diablo did a great job of capturing my attention with this daring story while informing me on the ways of the Native America Cheyenne people during that time without sounding like a history book. I could picture clearly how they lived and their ways. The romance between Meko/Ethan and Francesca was engaging and sizzled off the pages. Though the feelings they had for each other was instant and blazed like a wild fire, it still felt realistic and they did go through struggles like a normal couple would.
Though I did have some confusion with the flow of the story, and how Meko and Ethan was one and the same and how his two lives coincided, I was able to quickly get back on track within the story and continue on. Even though this story is first and foremost a historical romance, I enjoyed the ruthlessness with how Ms Diablo portrayed the savage life of the world back then and how gruesome yet real it all was. In the real world, there is unnecessary war and bad things happen to good people, and I appreciated how Ms Diablo didn't shy away from that in this story, thereby making the tale more realistic and exciting.
Readers can look forward to a well-written story about how love can be formed from the most unlikely places, and even with incredible odds and time, it can last as well as flourish.
