And Welcome to Six Sentence Sunday
Don't forget to visit all the wonderful authors participating in this week's event. COMPLETE LIST HERE. This is a great way to find a new-to-you author and get a sneak peak of their writing.
My six sentences are from my Gothic Paranormal SOJOURN WITH A STRANGER. Here are a few images to give you an idea of what you'll find between the pages. Below the mini-story are the six sentences.
Penniless after her parents drowned at sea, Raine Brinsley seeks employment at Stafford House as a servant. Derek Stafford is intrigued and smitten with the Scottish lass and offers her a position. Derek needs an heir and risks losing everything if he doesn't produce one. The perfect candidate to bear his child just entered his life.
A ghost haunts the halls and grounds of Stafford House, a spirit intent on unmasking her killer -- Lucinda, Derek's late wife. She enlists Raine through cryptic messages to help her.
Raine must return to her ailing grandfather in Maine and will do anything to accomplish that goal. For a large sum of money, she agrees to carry Derek's heir and hand the child over immediately after birth. But . . . someone is intent on stopping the pregnancy. They will stop at nothing to make sure the infant never draws breath . . . including murder.
"Five thousand dollars . . . a down payment. There's another five thousand waiting for you the day the child is born."
An angry pulse took flight in her neck; she'd love to sever him at the knees with a cleaver. "I really must applaud your forethought.
Thanks so much for stopping by! Hope to see you next week.

A cleaver at the knees?
Love it!
Nice six.
Sounds like a complicated and intriguing plot. I look forward to reading more about it.
Oh, yeah, you go girl. Take his knees right out. Love her reaction.
Terrific synopsis. I'm wondering in what period it is set?
Just enough for me to wish I knew more.
Awesome six, Keta! I love anything to do with rain, so when I saw her name, it immediately made me smile. Beautiful! Happy Sunday!
